Growing Hops: Site cleared and soil prepared.

About a year ago Bryan and his wife suggested that we create a passage way between our two yards and install a gate with an archway that we could grow hops on. My wife and I agreed to it, but, it wasn't meant to happen last summer. Two weekends ago I came home from State College and lo and behold there was the beginning of a passage. Bryan ripped out the hedges with his own bare hands and left only a hole to fill! (can you picture him enraged at the bushes ;-) Here's a picture of where we are going to plant two of the rhizomes. We dug out all the old roots from the old hedges and refilled the two holes with a mixture of sand, peat moss and top soil along with some fertilizer. It should be nice and loose, just as the directions mentioned. I'll need to find places to plant the other six rhizomes. That shouldn't be too hard. I never liked the other bushes we had in the yard anyway. Time for some plant extraction myself...heheh.
