Prohibition Repealed - Celebrate!

Here's a gathering of selected events taking place this upcoming weekend at some of the more significant breweries and brewpubs across the county in celebration of the beginning of the end of prohibition in 1933. Wherever you may be, grab a glass of your favorite suds and toast one of the reasons why we are able to enjoy this fine beverage. Flossmoor Station, Flossmoor, IL - A possible showing of the documentary produced by Ken Burns and Roger Sherman called “The American Brew: The Rich and Surprising History of Beer in America” Victory Brewing, Downingtown, PA - Throwback Lager poured around the Philly metro area and toasted with at 9pm - Send a Victory Over Prohibition postcard Bethlehem Brew Works, Bethlehem, PA Rogue Ales Public House, San Francisco, CA - Anyone with valid military ID will receive a free American Amber pint glass and 22oz bomber bottle Russian River Brewing, Santa Rosa, CA - Get a Blind Pig IPA mason jar glass filled with Blind Pig IPA for $5. During prohibition, an illegal tavern was known as a Blind Pig. Come celebrate brewing heritage while having a Blind Pig at Russian River Brewing Company. Flying Dog Ales, Denver, CO - A special Midnight Tour of their brewery in Denver’s Ballpark Neighborhood on the night of April 6th. Flying Dog’s neighboring bar, the Blake Street Tavern, will also be taking part in the celebration by offering pints of Flying Dog’s “Litter of Ales” for a special price of $2.00. Willimantic Brewing, Willimantic, CT - Celebrate the Repeal of Prohibition with a buck off all house brews all day and all night. Kuhnhenn Brewing, Warren, MI - Celebrate the Repeal of the 18th Amendment A special cask conditioned/hand pulled lager will tapped. A video presentation will be at 8pm. Schlafly Beer, St. Louis, MO - Sample more than 20 beer styles, including great beer styles from three Illinois microbreweries and plenty of Schlafly favorites. TICKETS cost $20.00 in advance or $25.00 day of event. Price includes a commemorative tasting glass, unlimited beer tastings and live music (food is not included in ticket price). Widmer Brothers Brewing, Portland, OR - Celebrating Brew Years Eve with Brewery tours @ 11am and 12pm, $2 pints during late night "Hoppy Hour" (10:30pm-1am) and a midnight prost to the Repeal of Prohibition. Boscos, Nashville, TN - Celebrate the anniversary of the repeal of prohibition with: Prohibition Pop Quiz! (Start studying!) Costume Contest! (Best costume from the 1920's gets to come to the next Brewmaster's Beer Dinner.) Richbrau Brewing, Richmond, VA - Beer specials and an informal showing of "The American Brew" on A&E. Elysian Brewing, Seattle, WA - Setting up an old-fashioned claw-foot bathtub in the middle of the dining room on Thursday April 5, filling it with wort from that day's brew, and conducting an open fermentation where everyone can see it, celebrating our right to brew and enjoy beer out in the open forever! Capital Brewery, Middleton, WI - Celebrating Brew Years Eve Eve on Friday, April 6th with FREE tours at 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, & 7:00. These special tours will end with a triple tank tasting of 3 of Kirby's finest right out of the tanks. At 8:00PM there will be a group toast to the Repeal. Also showing A&E's The American Brew: The Rich and Surprising History of Beer in America.
