Philly Beer Week 2010: Last minute planning for tonight (Thurs. June 10th)

Are you still looking for something fun to do tonight? Is the Philly Beer Geek Final on your calendar? Here are 6 reasons why you'd have a great time if you come to Manayunk Brewing Company on Main Street tonight. ~ because, admit it: You haven't been there in a while. Okay, if you won't, I will. And, that's a shame. Wanna know why?... ~ because, second reason: recently, former brewer Doug Marchakitus from Iron Hill's North Wales location has taken over the mash paddle at Manayunk and... ~ because, you see: he's doing some more interesting beers than I can recall coming out of Manayunk B.C. in quite some time. Oh, and... ~ because, did I mention?: I'm a judge in the Philly Beer Geek Finals this year. While that alone would be the worst reason to come out, you should come out... ~ because, one last thing: You'll get to see co-judges Joe Sixpack, Jack Curtin, Doug Marchakitus, and Nate Gefvert (Philly Beer Geek Champion '09) passing judgement on 5 well-qualified contestants vying to be crowned the third Philly Beer Geek Champion of all-time. Plus they get a chance to stump the judges---that should be fun all by itself. ~ because, just one very last thing: It's just plain ol' fun. Festivities get underway at 8pm; no cover charge and its PAYG. Manayunk Brewery & Restaurant 4120 Main Street Philadelphia, PA 19127 (215) 482-8220 http://www.manayunkbrewery.com/ p.s. I'll warn you that the website says I've homebrewed in the all-grain format before. Oops, never. Actually, {admits sheepishly} avid homebrewer is a bit of a stretch--it's been way too long since I've homebrewed.
