Food & Beer: Sauerkraut and Pork

Today we're having sauerkraut and pork! This is one of my favorite meals. I guess it reminds me of my Pennsylvania Dutch (German) roots. Traditionally this was the meal my Grandmother, Mother and aunts would prepare on New Years Eve for New Years Day. This year I won't be with them to celebrate, but, we'll still enjoy it here at home. What beer should be paired with sauerkraut and pork? A German lager? A Saison?

For me, it will be one of the most food pair-worthy beers there is...the Saison/Farmhouse ale. I have so many happy memories of Saison with Pork and Sauerkraut that, giddyup, that's what it'll be again this year.

Of course, unless you and I kick the Southampton, Saison Dupont, and Sly Fox saisons all before dinner. Then, it'll be the Heavyweight Lunacy. Darn ;-)

I hope to gos you dumped some hot dogs in there too, while it was cooking.

I had the same last night, with a Victory Lager, not really a great beer but it worked out well with that meal.
