Beer Tasting: Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

This beer has generated a lot of favorable buzz amongst those who love this seasonal style of beer. The t-shirt has its own market as well...but, that's another story! I traded with "those neighbors" a 4-pack of 60 Minute for a 4-pack of Punkin. It was stored in cold refrigeration until serving. Bryan's Notes:
  • Nice, copper color
  • Soft, pillowy head
  • Gentle, spicy nose
  • Very slight notice of hops in the finish
  • Medium body with mild carbonation
  • Just enough pumpkin spice (esp. nutmeg) flavor without being overly/sickly spicy sweet
  • A pretty decent beer without overdoing it like some might suspect from DFH
  • Two is enough for one sitting
  • Somewhere in the middle ice cold temperature and room temperature is just right

This is my favorite pumpkin that I've tried this year. (I've had it on draft at Big Easy in Paoli and Freehouse in Wayne). Its got a very slight pumpkin flavor, not too sweet or too pumpkiny at all. Smooth drinking and very tasty.

A good beer but I thought the taste was a little bland as far as pumpkin beers go. By bland I mean it didn't really taste like pumpkin or a normal pumpkin beer. Other than that it is high quality.
