McKenzie Brew House: Welcome to Malvern

Well, after much delay and a last minute inspector's visit, McKenzie Brew House finally had their "soft opening" late yesterday afternoon around 4pm. As things typically go, they only updated their marquis minutes after the inspected left the premises. Our visit on this inaugural evening provided McKenzie with yours truly and Patty, Adam, Mark, Jeremy, and Kathleen (with the lovely young Sarah and Allison). A couple of beer samplers were tried along with full pints of select brews and a pizza, artichoke dip, salad, and portobello mushroom. Our waitress, Louise, was full of information, charm, and good spirits. For the first night in business, the bar and kitchen and service exceeded expectations. It is only a matter of time before people start to catch on that they are actually open for business. We have decided to wait for at least a few weeks before we post a full review on this new location. But, for the time being, we will leave you with a list of what Scott Morrison is currently brewing at his new location.
  • McKenzie Light Lager - 10 IBU - 3.5% ABV
  • Shane's Gold - 28 IBU - 4.6% ABV
  • Unicorn Amber Ale - 10 IBU - 4.6% ABV
  • Wicked Will's Pale Ale - 30 IBU - 5.5% ABV
  • Black Lab Stout - 20 IBU - 5.7% ABV
  • Abbey 6 Belgian Ale
  • French Country Ale

p.s. While you're there, if you're so inclined, please encourage them to do more seasonal/specialty beers. Scott Morrison is extremely talented and needs the impetus to experiment some more! ;-)

Edit from Adam: Also, forgive us for the many McKenzie postings. You have to understand. This brew pub is less than a mile from where we live! I'm really excited about a place where I can go with my family on occasion to enjoy a good pint or two. I can't wait to take a tour :-)

Yea good time... and thanks to whomever ended up paying for my wings... I totally forgot that I had ordered more than the two beers! Look forward to going back.
