The Amazing Weekly Philly Beer Calendar of December 2008, week 5

Time to wrap up this amazing month of beer events here in the Philadelphia region. Most events are taking a back seat to New Year's Eve. But, The Drafting Room pulls out an intriguing tasting on Tuesday, perhaps as a good tuneup for New Year's Eve? And, there are a few New Year's Day events for those that boycott New Year's Eve...or want to be pros and do both. Here goes...week five...December 29th-January 3rd 2008 At Spring House's Drafting Room, they're wasting no time getting back into the special events calendar after Christmas. Check them out for a Bear Republic tasting on the 30th after 5:30pm and find Racer 5 (cask conditioned); Black Bear Stout; Hop Rod Rye; Grandma's Homegrown Ale. Across the sun dial, in Exton, they'll be pouring the same. Except instead of Grandma's elixir, they'll have the Wet Hop Harvest Ale on tap. For New Year's Eve, you can get dressy or not so dressy. (The undressed events, you'll have to look elsewhere for...) Here are a couple in the Philadelphia area. ~ Brew Year's Eve Party @Grey Lodge ~ New Year's Eve @Monk's Café For a full listing, head over here for the beer-y events. For a yet fuller listing, check out Foobooz for food, beer, wine, dancing, and general partying type of listings for New Year's Eve in and around Philly on December Thirty One. Even New Year's Day promises to be a great beer day in the Delaware Valley. In Philly, check out Jose Pistolas, South Philly Tap Room, or McGillin's for Mummers Parade mummery. Elsewhere in the city, Memphis Taproom is doing brunch, Local 44 is opening its doors for the first time at 5pm, Monk's will have a whole buncha stouts on tap, and Standard Tap is hosting a very worthwhile benefit. Later tomorrow, for those of you already looking past December oh-eight, the January calendar of events will be posted here.
