Quick Review of Marathon On The Square in Philadelphia, PA

I always knew that the Borish family-run Marathon Grill is a great place to grab lunch or dinner in Center City Philadelphia. I used to lunch frequently with them back when they had only one location somewhere between 10-15 years ago. Over twenty years ago, they had begun with a small location in Northeast Philly. And I had known that most, if not all, current locations (the "empire" is now up to seven) are open for late night escapades. But, it wasn't until we went to the Rittenhouse Square location for brunch last weekend that I saw firsthand a small, but quite respectable list of brews on tap. As of this particular April weekend, they were pouring Guinness Stout, Sly Fox Pils, Brooklyn Lager, Ommegang Hennepin, and Yards ESA. With Philadelphia as such a walkable city, you're bound to come across one of their locations. Next time in Philly, be sure that you get to Marathon at least for lunch. The reasonably-priced, high quality food is alone worth a visit. If you can make it there later in the day or evening and have a brew or two, you shouldn't be disappointed either. They feature both evening and late night happy hour specials. All around, it should be a good experience with a locally home-grown Philly restaurant.
